Amazing food, amazing staff, and busy location! Came in without reservations for dinner with my companion, and it was so busy that we could only get bar seats. We ordered the cash Fantasy course special. It was a fantasy alright. 4 courses of excellent food starting with a tasty pork springroll (a Chinese dish nomally but whatever) that came with this really tasty sweet hot sauce. Not like a Thai sweet chilli sauce but more like a sweetened Frank's hot sauce. They were a great pairing. Next was a Ceasar salad. It was tossed really well with a generous amount of dressing, so everything was coated. Croutons were ground like breadcrumbs, so it was easier to mix in with the leaves for even crunch with each bite. The dressing was really good too so it could have been house-made. The included pasta was the Fett Chile. A fettuccini in a roasted red pepper cream sauce. Toppings included chorizo, chicken, and a small amount of red pepper not yet blended into the sauce. I expected this to be fairly savoury umami-like, but it turned out to be a mild sweet flavour. It's not too sweet as my companion loves this dish, too, and she doesn't like too many sweet dishes. I could not stop raving about this dish each time the server came by. My companions Vong (linguine vongole) was good, too, in a pesto sauce. I liked my dish more. Both dishes provide ample amounts of pasta and toppings for their price. The final dish to the menu was a Creme Brule. It was also ample and mildly sweet like the pasta. Having it with a bit of the mint was the best part. The staff were all friendly and attentive. My water was filled and relied throughout service without asking. They asked many times how each course was and if we needed anything. There is plenty of free street parking around. I will definitely come again and recommend this place as THE pasta place to go in Winnipeg to anyone asking.

Amazing food. Quint little place. Loved the broccoli appetizer. Bruschetta was good, but not as good as Cibo. Spring rolls were very good and I loved that the dipping sauce was so spicy (maybe too spicy for some). Ceasar salad was good, but the Fett Chili pasta stole the show. Still dreaming about it. Good wine menu. Chef special vermicelli pasta and rose sauce with meatballs was great. Meatballs were very special. Weird, but it was the first time I try creme brule. Was great but I have no point of reference. Great coffee too, which is important. Waitress did not bother us all the time but did follow up to make sure all was good after serving the food. I'll go again for sure! It's a different and refreshing kind of alternative.

Incredible...that describes both the meal, and the fact that Cafe Carlo has been around for approximately 35 years, and it’s been consistently one of the best restaurants in Winnipeg. Admittedly, I haven’t been here in sometime, it’s always been on the “list” to get back to. And a perfect opportunity presented itself, and as a family we went to celebrate a milestone that actually beats their 35 years...but I digress. To a person, our party of 5 was blown out of the water with the fusillade that was selection, quality, and quantity of what was offered, and served. There, I almost got a metaphor going there...again, I’m detouring...suffice it to say that we actually loved our appetizers and mains so much that we 1) wanted to save some to take home, and 2) left room for dessert. All this amazing fare was only made better by the attentive staff, and of course the company. Thank you Cafe Carlo for curating an evening that I will remember forever.

First time here, and let me tell you this... the food was absolutely amazing. I 100% recommend this place! Make sure to make a reservation :)

Went here lastnight for my friends bday, and the food was so amazing. 5 of us girls we all got different pasta dishes and each of them were so full of flavour and sooo delicious. It’s a little pricey for pasta but so worth it. I already can’t wait to go back here and try some appetizers! Our server was also so funny and kind!

A Rare Gem in the City Carlo Cafe is a delightful mix of a family restaurant, a relaxing atmosphere, and delicious food. Here's what we ordered: Calamari - 4/5: A bit too oily, but overall, not bad. Crunchy Shrimps - 5/5: Perfect crust and sauce. Bruschetta - 5/5: Tender with a well-balanced taste. Seafood Chowder - 5/5: The sweetness from clams and scallops, combined with a thick and rich broth, made this dish outstanding. Seafood Cannelloni - 6/5: This was the highlight for both me and my wife. A generous portion of protein, perfectly cooked homemade pasta stuffed with cheese, herbs, and shrimp. The balance of dough and stuffing was spot on. The thick and tasty gravy paired with a deliciously grilled lobster tail made it exceptional. We would definitely come again. Note: Unfortunately, our photos didn't turn out as well as we hoped.

6 months ago I wrote a review on Cafe Carlo, below, today I'm pleased to announce they're awesome! Food is consistently good and so is the service, just a little too tiny for my liking. Overall this place is a five-star experience, I'll continue to dine at CC and keep you posted :). The following is my old review from 6 months ago: I'm not fully convinced this is a five-star joint, yet! I've ate here four times in the past three months and each time they miss something. First off, street parking is busy but manageable, entering is not fully welcoming due to its congestion and semi attentive staff, and if you have a coat, no place to hang it. One of the main issues here is its size to table ratio, if you’re not careful walking in you’ll take out the couple seated just inside the entrance, in general, close quarters. Service is also hit or miss, one server was all around perfect, while another had sprinkles of attitude and arrogance, it left a bad taste. Price is appropriate for what’s offered, you can have a salad and chowder and walk away unscathed or dig into the rack of lamb or seafood cannelloni and you can expect 40-70 bucks a plate, appropriate. The food! If Carlo is on his game, you won’t be disappointed, however, if he’s having a crap day you will be. On a good day five stars all around, this is why CC has a great reputation, when their on, it’s amazing. Seafood Cannelloni on a Monday was over cooked and unfresh, on a Friday, spectacular! Consistency is what’s missing, maintaining a high standard across the board is needed. Folks can’t afford to treat themselves and have a subpar experience, they won’t come back. CC has an opportunity to improve guests experience making it a must. I can’t bring myself to give it a 5, it’s somewhere between 3 and 4. I’m going to keep going back and I’ll update my review if warranted, good luck CC!

One of the best service experiences I have had in Winnipeg, and I dine in many unique locations. Great wine, beer and menu items. They welcomed our table of three, which grew to four and with ease to accommodate us. Thank you Cafe Carlo for letting old friends catch up with some great eats! Cheers, Spicy Jan
